What programs can a member support?

CP’s primary goal in building different programs is to strengthen technical skills of various grassroots organizations, student organizations, professionals and enthusiasts.

The membership fee contributed by every member will be utilized to further advance CPU initiatives. A member can support any of the following programs.
 
  • FOSS @ Schools – CPU’s flagship free and open source advocacy program for students and enthusiasts. This organizes seminars and workshops for students where CPU members are encouraged to participate as resource speakers or facilitators. Almost every week, CPU recieves invitation to share free and open source expertise to students.
     
  • RootAccess – this program is a skills training initiative for non-profit organizations. It organizes information security sessions, basic PC troubleshooting trainings, web portal for advocacy seminars and ushahidi mapping efforts. 
     
  • Software Freedom Day – CPU has been organizing Software Freedom Day (SFD) since 2004 in the Philippines. SFD is a worldwide celebration and grassroots campaign for software freedom. Yearly, more than 700 students, enthusiasts and professionals attends CPU-lead SFD celebrations. 
     
  • Drupal Camp 3D (Down and Dirty with Drupal) - Is a community sharing and training of students, enthusiasts, non-profits and workers in the public sector of Drupal Content Management System. Since 2004, the Computer Professionals' Union has been using Drupal to help people's organizations establish their web presence and advance their advocacies. CPU Developed its second Human Rights Documentation system, Bagani, with Drupal7.
     
  • Green Bot Philippines - is a green-technology initiative of the Computer Professionals' Union. Utilizing free and open source software technologies, Greenbot PH seeks to help expose the various environmental crimes committed in the Philippines. It serves as a web portal for aggregated case studies of crimes and the people's responses in such issues as biodiversity, mining and climate change, which are then mapped using Ushahidi, a free and open online Geographical Information System (GIS). Greenbot PH will also be reporting updates on CPU's other green initiatives. Project site: http://www.votereportph.org
     
  • Snt in a Box: Toolkit for Basic Science and Math Teaching - The SnT in a Box Projeect aims to explore Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) to aid instruction of basic science and mathematics. It intends to bring applicable tools from high-end researches to basic science teaching.
     
  • VoteReportPH - Vote Report Philippines (VoteReportPH) is a grassroots-based electoral campaign that aims to inform, organize and mobilize the Filipino people to push for meaningful reforms in the automated polls with the aid of new media technology. It seeks to orient the masses in the nature of Philippine elections in the context of electronic voting, monitor and document occurences of electoral fraud and other problems related to the AES, and promote candidates and parties that subscribe to politics of change as an alternative to traditional politics.
